FAQs

  • Before your first session, you’ll complete an intake form through the client portal at least 24 hours in advance. During the session, we’ll begin building a foundation of trust and understanding in a safe, supportive space. You’ll have the opportunity to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, discuss what brought you to therapy, and explore any challenges or past experiences that feel important. Together, we’ll identify what you’d like to work on and establish a path forward, focusing on what matters most to you.

  • Like many private practices, I accept all insurance plans as out-of-network providers.  Most clients with out-of-network benefits receive between 60% - 80% of their sessions' cost after their deductible is met.  Please call your insurance company to see what will be covered for you.

  • Call the number on the back of your health insurance card listed under Member Services.

You can ask them the following questions:

    • Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage?

    • What is my out-of-network deductible?

    • How much of my deductible has been met?

    • What percentage of outpatient psychotherapy sessions are covered per session?

    • What is the process for submitting claims?

I can provide you with monthly invoices that will include all the necessary information for processing your claims.

  • Therapy and coaching serve different purposes. Psychotherapy focuses on understanding how your past and present experiences shape your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It provides a safe space to address mental health concerns, work through challenges, and foster personal growth. Coaching, on the other hand, is future-oriented and centers on personal development, helping you identify and achieve specific goals. While coaching is not a substitute for therapy, it can complement therapeutic work when appropriate.

If you are not a New Jersey resident and are interested in services, please fill out the consultation form. We can discuss whether coaching might be an appropriate option for your needs.

  • Individual sessions are 45-50 minutes. Couples sessions are 60 minutes.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide at least 24 hours' notice to avoid being charged the full session fee. This policy ensures that the time reserved for you can be offered to someone else. If we are able to reschedule your session within the same week, the cancellation fee will be waived.

Each client is allowed one unexcused cancellation per year, unless otherwise agreed. Additional cancellations will require payment or rescheduling to maintain your reserved time slot. Please note that sessions will end at the scheduled time, even if you arrive late. This policy helps ensure consistency and availability for your therapeutic progress.

  • As of January 1st, 2022:

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises/consumers or call (800) 985-3059.
